Description

​The pharmacy was inaugurated on 08 December 2020 by Cardinal NZAPALAINGA, Metropolitan Archbishop of Bangui. Access to quality medicines is a major challenge in the Central African Republic. Districts 3 and 6, served by Notre Dame de Fatima Parish, are no exception. The latest military and political crisis has exacerbated the shortage of quality essential medicines. The population, already impoverished by repeated crises, resorts to street medicines because they cannot get quality medicines, which are more expensive and difficult to find near their homes. With this in mind, this pharmacy has been created with the following objectives:
  • Make essential medicines available to the local population at affordable prices;
  • Reducing the impact of counterfeit medicines on people's health;
  • Provide employment opportunities for people who have studied medicine, pharmacy and management;
  • Generate resources to support the social projects of the parish and the Association Notre Dame de Fatima pour le Développement (ANDFD).

Managed by a pharmacist, it has 7 employees: 2 state-certified nurses, 2 health assistants, 1 surface technician and 2 orderlies. It currently operates from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., but the aim is to be open 24 hours a day once a stable and permanent power supply is available.

 Specialising in the retail sale of medicines to patients, the Mama ti Fatima Pharmacy aims to become a reference pharmacy that in the future will be able to supply the local population and serve even the most remote areas with quality medicines at affordable prices.

​Automatic pharmacy management system

Managing a pharmacy is not only a health challenge, but also a logistical and organisational challenge. 

Currently, all tasks related to the management of our pharmacy, such as: acquisition of medicines, reception, storage, stock management and replenishment, expiry control, dispensing, etc. are done manually.
It is a tedious job that is not free of errors and possible risks, such as: possible stock-outs, sale of outdated medicines, etc., which can jeopardize not only the care and health of the people served, but also the very functioning and viability of the pharmacy. 

For this reason, one of the pharmacy's priority needs is the acquisition of a computerised system (software and hardware) to manage, among others, the following activities in a comprehensive, effective and efficient manner:
- Tender files.
- Order processing. 
- Receipt and registration of incoming orders.
- Storage.
- Distribution.
- Stock management (maximum, minimum and order points for each drug, turnover index).
- Traceability (batches).
- Expiry date control.
- Returns.
- Inventory.
- Budget control, invoicing and accounting.
